Doctor Dolittle

Thursday, April 2

Recommended for Grades K-4

Showcase Theatre, 9:30 & 11:00 a.m.

Curriculum Links: Theatre, Language Arts, American Sign Language

Doctor Dolittle’s ability to talk to the animals makes him one of the greatest veterinarians of all time. But can he cure the monkey kingdom’s epidemic in time to save its simian citizens? Come join in all the fun with the Doctor, his animal friends and—of course—the famous two-headed Pushme-Pullyu! Signstage on Tour presents this popular story in a ASL/English performance with each line both signed and spoken.

Sign Stage on Tour is committed to creating extraordinary theatre that brings deaf and hearing audiences together. The company specializes in Sign Language Theatre with deaf and hearing actors performing together on stage. Whenever a character speaks, he or she uses Sign Language, with the lines voiced by a different actor on or offstage. It’s a magical blend of language created simultaneously in spoken English and in the spatial beauty of American Sign Language (ASL).
